Web Design
What after-sales support do you offer?
After the completion of a website project we are available for any small tweaks or amendments to the site free of charge in the first month. Any support thereafter will be charged at an hourly rate of £25. Nuttifox also offer a maintenance contract for larger or content heavy websites.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of transferring files (i.e web pages) from your local PC to your web server. There are a variety of free ftp software programs available on the Internet and they enable you to update your website pages at any given time. When we create a hosting package for our clients, we create the 'ftp details', consisting of the host name, User ID and password. We then use these details to publish your site live to the internet. Once payment is received some clients request these details from us to be able to modify the web-pages themselves.
How long does it take for a design to be completed?
The timescale of a website design project is often dictated by the client. Nuttifox will ask you if you have a specific date in mind, otherwise depending on the size of the project, it could take a week to many months before completion. The most common delay in the creation and completion of a new website is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent to us by the client. We normally recommend that the client has the content ready before we proceed, unless Nuttifox have been asked to produce copy written text and sourced images ourselves.
How much will my website cost?
The cost of websites can vary a lot, depending upon the type of site you require. Nuttifox can build a basic one-page site for £120 (turnaround of 1-2 days), a multi-page site from £499 (turnaround in 1-2 weeks), a dynamic database site from £799 (turnaround from 2 weeks), a simple E-Commerce solution from £999 or a Flash developed website from£600 (turnaround times vary). Nuttifox can also supply bespoke built application design depending on the specific need of our client. Obviously each site has to be treated on it's individual requirements, but these figures should give you an idea of a ballpark figure. We request a 35% deposit for all standard sites and 50% for larger database driven projects. The balance of payment is then due on completion of the project. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer or Payal. The only ongoing cost will be your annual hosting & domain fee.
How do I get listed in Google?
It is free to submit to Google and you can do that here. We submit all websites we design to Google, Bing, Yahoo, Lycos and MSN. On larger projects or if requested, Nuttifox will also use advanced SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) techniques to allow your site to grow naturally within search engines. We can also provide services and advise about Online Marketing and all the ways to promote your business online.

In what format should I supply text and images for my new website?
It is helpful to us if you are able to provide text and images in electronic form, like the files from a digital camera and the text in Microsoft Word or similar format. If this is not possible, we can help get your information ready for use on the website, but this will incur an small administration fee which will be included on your invoice.
Do I have to stay with Nuttifox forever?
No. Once the website has been completed and if you are hosted with our sister website Nuttihost, you are welcome to move anytime. You will simply be invoiced for the time hosted with us and a CD with your website on can be given to you upon request. Your site will be removed from our servers and your domain name made available for transfer. Obviously we would love you to stay with us, but sometimes this can not always be the case.
Will we need to have a meeting?
In most cases a meeting isn't necessary, with a good 80% of our sites, telephone, email and support through our client account system seems to be sufficient. However if we feel the project is to big, or we do not have enough information to proceed, then will can arrange a meeting locally.

Branding
A brand is a collection of attributes, tangible and intangible, which have been symbolised in a trademark, which, if managed properly, creates value and influence.
Branding is the development of these tangible and intangible attributes to build value and influence to a product, service or business in an appealing and significant way.
Why is consistency so important to branding?
Consistency is the ability to maintain a particular standard; it reinforces the brand message, if used throughout all levels of the organisation, and helps drive a business towards recognition.
What is the purpose of branding standards?
The purpose of branding standards is to provide your business associates with a useful tool for achieving a consistent look and feel across all marketing materials.
What is the purpose of brand management?
Brand Management attempts to boost the product's or company's perceived value to the customer, and increase the brand equity. Building a brand takes time and careful management, it is easy to create a negative brand reputation if the brands standards are not enforced.
Flash Development
A SWF file (.swf extension) is a compiled, viewable only, Flash movie file. You would use this format to publish your Flash website or presentation to different mediums. You can export this file along with the HTML file in Adobe Flash if you have the .fla file.
A FLA file (.fla extension) is the source, or editable version of the Flash template. From here you can modify your template and produce FLA files for presentation via the web. With the FLA file, you can export the SWF files.
A Flash movie is a dynamic resource that is used for displaying web site data, animation and interactivity for the user. There are endless design options and uses for Flash movies and animation. Instead of using standard HTML coding, a Flash movie is placed in a frame just as a actual movie would play. Flash is primarily designed with a programming language called Action Script which along with the animations allows the user to interact with elements of the design. Flash development is generally much more complicated to design than standard HTML coding. It takes a thorough knowledge of coding and creativity to fit all the pieces together. Nuttifox can custom design a Flash website that will meet your company's needs.
How can a Flash benefit my website?
Flash can be used in a number of ways. You might decide a fully animated Flash website is the right look for your company, in which you can let Nuttifox come up with a range of concepts based on your requirments. There is also the possibility of using Flash to design certain aspects of your static or dynamic website, such as the header or navigation elements. Flash ad's and interactive banners can be placed around your site to promote products and services. You may also want to use Flash to develop company presentations, screen-savers, CD-Rom applications for PC/MAC or use Flash alongside Flex or Air to develop desktop based web applications.
Graphic & Print Design
Do I own the copyright of the design work Nuttifox create for me?
Yes. Once full payment has been received, Nuttifox will transfer the copyright over to you. We can also supply a CD-Rom containing the artwork in various file formats, along with the printed material if purchased. We do however reserve the right to feature the work in our portfolio and our own self promotional material.
What methods do you have for accepting files?
Files can be sent to us on CD, via Email (if under 15mb in size) or via the file upload in your NuttiClient account.
What is the difference between print design and a web design?
Print design needs to be produced at a much higher resolution (around 300dpi). We also have to produce and save work in a standard format suitable for digital or press printers. Common and universal print formats are TIFF, EPS, and Adobe Acrobat PDF. Nuttifox prefer to be sent high resolution images as we can then scale these down for print and web if necessary. Design for use on the Web can be produced at a smaller resolution (around 72dpi). Web graphics do not produce good quality print images because the file sizes are so small. It is easy to spot where a web logo has been used for a print purpose because the quality will be poor, often blurred and have jagged edges.
What is a typical business card size?

Do you provide a complete service such as design plus artwork and finally printing of a project?

Analytics & Reports
What web analytics do Nuttifox use?
Nuttifox uses 'Google Analytics' and 'Google Business Tools' on every site we build. Although SEO and PPC campaigns are an extra service, all of the websites we create are built with Google and other search engines in mind. We feel NO business can properly use, understand or promote their site effectively without these fundamental tools.
What are keywords & keyword reports?
Keywords are specific words or phrases used for marketing and targeting people searching for a website within a certain industry or to a certain audience. For a web design company, one of their keywords would be "Web Design". A hair salon may use "Hair Design", and they may be more specific with "Hair Design Hampshire". By using these words correctly via SEO, Nuttifox can build up a strong natural position in search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Lycos and many others.
Keyword Reports is a service Nuttifox provide to help companies tune their online marketing strategies. We provide information on their competitors keywords, PPC campaigns, SEO and online marketing. With more companies using the same keywords and phrases within the same industry, more time, money and effort is used to secure those vital search engine positions. Our reports package starts at £100. Read more about our Keyword Reports.
Analytics is a collection of data recorded about the traffic and performance of a website. Web analytics have become a very important part of web design since they can show the website owner or marketing agency which landing pages are effective in convincing people to subscribe to services or purchase the company's products. Web analytics can also be used to monitor and analyze how well a website is achieving its goals.

No. Once we have developed a campaign that is running and effective we will monitor it over a month to ensure it is productive, however, at that point we hand over to you, but we do not leave you in the dark, we always support our clients and can be contacted at any point when you feel your online marketing may need reviewing, which is guaranteed over time.
Why can’t I just pay after you’ve completed the work, or on 30 or 60 day terms?
Nuttifox relies on regular cash flow as we are consistently sourcing material for various projects at once. We can not dedicate a professional marketer to your campaign until our fee has been settled.
Pay Per Click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on websites, in which advertisers pay only when their ad is clicked. This is a much faster way of promoting your new website and business to the correct target market. It is generally advised the PPC is to be used until SEO has gained a high natural rank within the search engines. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system. Cost per click (CPC) is the amount of money an advertiser pays search engines and other Internet publishers for a single click on its advertisement that brings one visitor to its website.
What is SEO (Search Engine Optimistation)?
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a website from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results, as opposed to Pay Per Click (PPC) which deals with paid inclusion. This is achieved over a long period of keyword research and development using a well coded search engine friendly website to allow for quick and easy indexing of a websites pages into the search engine.
Online marketing, also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, internet-marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet. This can be achieved through Search Engine Optimistation, Pay Per Click Marketing, Email Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Banner Advertising, Link Building and other techniques.

What is the difference between CMYK and RGB?
"RGB" refers to the primary colours of red, green, and blue. "CMYK" refers to the primary colours of pigment: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. RGB is used when referring to light. For example, your computer screen and digital camera use an RGB color space. CMYK colours are process colours used on printing presses. Therefore, your files must be set-up in CMYK or the colours may come out looking different than you intended. There are also spot colours like Pantone colours which can be used for metallic or bright distinctive colour effects.
Hosting Solutions
Also known as shared hosting, this form of web hosting should suffice for most everyone. Virtual hosting simply refers to the fact that your site is on one server, and that this server hosts multiple sites. You are virtually shared - your site will not be the only one on this specific server.
Web hosting is renting space and bandwidth through a company so that you may publish your web site online.
A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS).
Can Nuttifox register a Domain Name for me?
Yes. If you have one in mind we can purchase it for you as part of the package. We can then setup hosting on this domain or you are welcome to host it elsewhere.
What exactly is space and bandwidth/data transfer?
Diskspace is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space. Bandwidth/Transfer is the amount of data the server will allow your site to send in a month. Transfer is usually measured in gigabytes - billions of bytes.
Any websites built and/or hosted with Nuttihost are always reviewed and maintained with the right usage level or each specific site.
Why would I need a dedicated IP?
For most people, a dedicated IP is not required. But for people that want to provide anonymous FTP or a website using SSL, a dedicated IP can make that easier.
Consider subdomains as an extension of your domain. For example, your site is www.example.com. A subdomain would be test.example.com, and another would be webhosting.example.com. Subdomains are usually treated as separate sites from the main domain site.
